Marian (Heft) Bongino

Daughter of Bill Heft, Assistant Director

Marian did it all at Tyler Hill Camp. After her stint as a camper and CIT, she was a well-regarded counselor, who had a great run as the Color War General of the 1967 Blue Hawaii, teaming up with Bob Chiccolo in one of the most memorable Color War sing nights in Tyler Hill Camp history. She went on to become a group leader, and even took on the brief role of Assistant Head Counselor to Sy Sundick. In later years, Bill gave Marian and her husband, Jimmy Bongino, greater responsibility in running the day-to-day operations, which made Marian less visible than in past years, as she spent a great deal of time in the Wayne Hall Office.

But it was in those great years of the 1960s that Marian was seen as a whirling dervish of energy, a force of nature and a true Tyler Hill Camp spirit. And more than anything else, Marian was known for the love she had for Tyler Hill Camp, and for so many of the campers and counselors she worked with.
